Which version of Vue does your application run?
Ask it before any rate or rating. Vue 2 reached end of life on 31 December 2023 and no longer receives security or browser compatibility updates (Vue), yet W3Techs finds version 2 on 97.1 percent of the websites where it detects Vue (W3Techs), and 12.8 percent of Vue’s npm downloads in the week before 21 September 2026 were 2.x releases (npm). Every firm on this Top 20 Vue JS Development Companies in USA list can build in Vue 3. The harder question is which of them can carry a Vue 2 codebase across, and the directory data cannot answer it: none of the 198 reviews on the first page of their Clutch profiles names Vue.
So the answer has to come from the first call.
This guide prices the work and sets out how to shortlist, then covers what the build quote leaves out: the migration, the Nuxt and Node.js versions underneath, and the accounts you must own.
Key takeaways
- 31 December 2023 was the end of life for Vue 2, which now receives no security or browser compatibility updates (Vue).
- 97.1% of websites where W3Techs detects Vue run version 2 (W3Techs).
- 1.55 million weekly npm downloads of Vue, 12.8% of the total, were still 2.x releases in September 2026 (npm).
- 31 July 2026 was the end of life for Nuxt 3; Nuxt 4 is the supported line and Nuxt 5 is expected around the fourth quarter of 2026 (Nuxt).
- 18.4% of professional developers used Vue.js in 2025, against 19.8% for Angular and 46.9% for React (Stack Overflow).
- 0 of 198 first-page reviews across the top twenty firms name Vue, and 11 of the twenty list Laravel beside it (Clutch profiles).
- 13 of 20 firms on this list publish rates of $100 an hour or more, and the median minimum project is $25,000 (Clutch profiles).
- $92,650 to $127,317 is the spread between the BLS median for web developers and Indeed’s average for front end developers (BLS; Indeed).
Vue in 2026: a steady framework with a long tail
Vue is a solid second-tier choice, not a fading one. In Stack Overflow’s 2025 survey, 18.4 percent of professional developers had used Vue.js in the past year, close to Angular at 19.8 percent and behind React at 46.9 percent. Nuxt, the Vue framework for server rendering, reached 4.1 percent, and Laravel, the PHP framework often paired with Vue, reached 9.3 percent (Stack Overflow Developer Survey 2025).

On the web, W3Techs finds Vue on 0.6 percent of all websites (W3Techs). That share is small because Vue is used more inside applications and dashboards than on public marketing pages.
The long tail is Vue 2. Vue 2.7, the final minor release, received 18 months of long-term support from 1 July 2022, and Vue 2 reached end of life on 31 December 2023. It remains available on npm and CDNs but receives no updates, including security fixes. The Vue team points teams that must stay on Vue 2 to a commercial extended support service (Vue).

The two measures describe different things. W3Techs detects the Vue build on public websites, where old sites linger for years (W3Techs). npm downloads reflect builds and installs: 1.55 million of 12.1 million weekly Vue downloads were 2.x releases, most of them 2.7 (npm). Either way, a large share of Vue work in 2026 is keeping or moving an application nobody has upgraded.
The frameworks around Vue move faster. Vue 3.5 has been the current minor line since 3 September 2024 and was still receiving patch releases in September 2026 (endoflife.date). Nuxt 3 reached end of life on 31 July 2026. Nuxt 4, released on 16 July 2025, is supported until six months after Nuxt 5 ships, and Nuxt 5 is estimated for the fourth quarter of 2026 (Nuxt).

State management moved too. The Vuex documentation now says Pinia is the new default (Vuex). A Vue 2 application usually needs a Vuex to Pinia plan as part of any migration.
So a Vue brief needs three answers before any firm is compared: which Vue major version, whether Nuxt is involved and which version, and what the back end is.
What Vue.js development costs in the US
Average pay for comparable US roles spreads by $34,667 across four sources.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the median web developer at $92,650 in May 2025 (BLS). PayScale reports an average base salary of $95,000 for the Vue.js skill, from 712 people, updated 18 June 2026 (PayScale). Glassdoor reports a median total pay of $122,000 for a React developer (Glassdoor). Indeed reports $127,317 for a front end developer from 3,300 job-posting salaries, updated 14 September 2026 (Indeed).

Only PayScale publishes a Vue-specific figure; Glassdoor’s Vue developer page shows no national figure and Indeed has no Vue page, so the other three are front end, React and web developer benchmarks. We left out ZipRecruiter, whose JavaScript role pages have repeated figures across unrelated job titles in our recent checks.
Agency pricing on this list runs higher than on most JavaScript lists we have published. Thirteen of the twenty firms publish $100 an hour or more, and ten sit in the $100 to $149 band. The median minimum project is $25,000, from $1,000 to $75,000 (Clutch profiles, read 21 September 2026). Thirteen report a most common project under $50,000, and five report one of $200,000 or more.

The split follows the kind of work. Small Vue and Laravel studios deliver many projects under $50,000, while firms such as Orases, Arbisoft and Dualboot Partners most often run projects of $200,000 or more. Eight factors decide where a Vue quote lands.

The starting point comes first: a new Vue 3 build, or a Vue 2 application to migrate. Then Nuxt and server rendering, the back end, which on this list is often Laravel, state management, the component library, integrations, test coverage and the support terms. Ask every vendor to price these separately, and to price any migration as its own phase.
The Top 20 Vue JS Development Companies in USA, compared
We used Clutch’s directory of Vue.js developers in the United States, sorted by Clutch Rank and read on 21 September 2026. It lists 1,335 firms and, unusually, had no paid placements in its rows that day. Firms 2 to 21 below are its top 20 in Clutch Rank order.
Brain Station 23 is placed first because we publish this article. We are US-headquartered, and Vue.js is 8 percent of our published Clutch framework split, but Clutch’s ranking did not place us in its top 20 and we are not claiming it did.
Every overall rating below sits between 4.8 and 5.0, so the stars do not separate these firms. The Vue Focus column does: Vue’s share of each firm’s published framework split, with Laravel shown where the firm lists it.

Team sizes, framework and service splits, industries and locations are from each firm’s published Clutch profile, read 21 September 2026. “Best For” is our reading of that data. Engagement models and certifications are not published consistently across these profiles, so we have left them out rather than guess.
Profiles are grouped by buyer type, and the numbers match the table. Each caution comes from the Review Highlights that Clutch publishes from the firm’s verified reviews. Certifications are self-published and unverified by us. Where we cite reviews, we read the first page of reviews on each profile, up to eleven per firm.
1. Brain Station 23
We publish this article and placed ourselves first, so read this entry as the publisher’s pick. Vue.js and Laravel are 8 percent each of our published Clutch framework split, behind Spring, .NET and Flutter, so we are not a Vue studio. Our strength is staffing: 60 percent of our work is engineers embedded in client teams, at the $25 to $49 band that Cleveroad and TekRevol also publish, with a $10,000 minimum. That suits a company that already runs a Vue application and needs more engineers for a migration or a roadmap. Our ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II controls matter when engineers hold access to your repositories and servers. Our most common project across 11 reviews that report a size is under $50,000, and none of our first-page reviews names Vue. Reviewers score Quality at 5.0 and have asked for tighter internal coordination.

What the twenty profiles show
Vue is a minority share at most of these firms. Vue’s share of the twenty firms’ framework splits has a median of 13.5 percent, and ten put it at 12 percent or less. Seven put it at a third or more, and only EIGHT25MEDIA lists it alone (Brain Station 23 analysis of Clutch profiles, read 21 September 2026).

The whole directory has a thin top. Across all 1,335 US firms, the median puts Vue at 15 percent. The 93 firms at half or more have a median of zero reviews, and 577 firms in the directory have no reviews at all. A Top 20 Vue JS Development Companies in USA list built on ratings will always favour broad agencies over small Vue specialists.

The reviews never mention the framework. Of 198 first-page reviews across the twenty firms, none names Vue. One names Nuxt, at 64 Robots. Clients describe deadlines, communication and results, so the Vue evidence has to come from code samples and live applications you ask for.
Laravel is the common partner. Eleven of the twenty list Laravel, and at HDC, 64 Robots and Piboutique Software it matches Vue’s share. If your back end is Laravel, that is a strong filter. If it is Node.js or .NET, look elsewhere on the list.
Cost is the weak sub-score again. Among the 15 firms whose sub-scores differ, Cost is the lowest or joint lowest for 12. Two firms have fewer than ten reviews: HDC with six and 64 Robots with eight.
How to shortlist a Vue.js development company
Order the filters so the first one removes the most firms.

Step 1: Name the starting point. A new Vue 3 build, a Vue 2 migration and a Nuxt upgrade are different jobs, and a firm good at one may not have done the others.
Step 2: Match the back end. If your server is Laravel, start with the eleven firms that list it. If it is Node.js, .NET or Django, filter for those instead.
Step 3: Match your budget to the minimum. Minimums run from $1,000 to $75,000, and thirteen firms charge $100 an hour or more.
Step 4: Ask for migration evidence. Ask for a Vue 2 to Vue 3 migration the firm has shipped, how long it took, whether it used the migration build, and how it replaced Vuex.
Step 5: Ask for the version policy. The answer should name Vue 3.5, the Nuxt major version, a Node.js LTS line for the build and any server, and how fast security releases are applied.
Step 6: Ask who owns the accounts. The repository, hosting, domain and any npm organisation should be in your name from day one.
Step 7: Buy a paid discovery. For a migration, a short fixed-fee audit that inventories components, plugins and dependencies shows the real size of the job before you fund it.
How to buy Vue development: four engagement models
The engagement model decides who pays when a migration turns out bigger than the estimate.

Fixed price moves overrun risk to the vendor, who prices it in. It suits a new build with settled designs. It fails on migrations, where the size of the job is only clear after the audit.
Time and materials keeps the risk with you. It suits migrations and products still finding their shape. Cap each phase and review burn every week.
Support retainer covers security releases, dependency updates, the next Nuxt or Vue minor upgrade and a block of change requests.
Staff augmentation adds Vue engineers to your team. Cleveroad, BairesDev, TekRevol, Dualboot Partners and Brain Station 23 publish staff augmentation lines. It fails when nobody in-house owns the architecture and release decisions.
The technical question: moving a Vue 2 application to Vue 3
A Vue 2 application is running on a framework that no longer receives fixes. The order of the migration decides whether it is a planned project or a rewrite.

Step 1: Inventory the dependencies. List every Vue plugin and component library the application uses, and check whether each has a Vue 3 version. The Vue team advises waiting for Vue 3 compatible versions of key dependencies (Vue migration build).
Step 2: Move to Vue 2.7 first. It is the final Vue 2 minor release, and the Vue team says it narrows the developer-experience gap between the two major versions (Vue).
Step 3: Run the migration build. @vue/compat is a build of Vue 3 that runs in Vue 2 mode by default and emits runtime warnings for changed or deprecated features (Vue migration build). Fix the warnings one area at a time.
Step 4: Replace Vuex with Pinia. The Vuex documentation now names Pinia as the new default (Vuex).
Step 5: Upgrade Nuxt if you use it. Nuxt 2 reached end of life on 30 June 2024 and Nuxt 3 on 31 July 2026, so a Nuxt application should land on Nuxt 4 (Nuxt).
Step 6: Move the build to a supported Node.js line. Node.js 20 reached end of life on 30 April 2026, and Node.js 22 follows on 30 April 2027 (Node.js Release schedule).
Step 7: Schedule the next round. Nuxt 5 is estimated for the fourth quarter of 2026, and Nuxt 4 is supported for six months after it ships (Nuxt).
Red flags: eight answers to walk away from
Each of these answers should end the conversation, or at least change the contract.

“Vue 2 is still fine.” It reached end of life on 31 December 2023 and receives no security updates (Vue).
“We’ll rewrite it from scratch.” Sometimes right, but the migration build exists so that most applications do not need to be rewritten.
“We haven’t done a Vue 3 migration, but it’s simple.” Ask for one they have shipped.
“Nuxt 3 is current.” It reached end of life on 31 July 2026 (Nuxt).
“We’ll keep Vuex.” Pinia is the documented default (Vuex).
“The known Vue 2 issues don’t affect you.” CVE-2024-6783, a cross-site scripting flaw, was published for Vue 2 in July 2024, after its end of life (NVD). Ask how it is handled.
“The build server version doesn’t matter.” Node.js 20 is past end of life (Node.js Release schedule).
“We host it on our server.” The hosting account, domain and repository should be yours.
After launch: what the build quote leaves out
This part covers what owners wish they had settled before the final invoice, and what recurs for as long as the application runs.
What you must own before the final invoice
The code repository with its full history, in your GitHub or GitLab organisation, not a zip.
The hosting or cloud account for the Vue front end and any Laravel, Node.js or Nuxt server, with billing in your name.
Domain, DNS and email sending, registered to your organisation.
Your own npm organisation, if the project publishes packages. npm revoked classic tokens on 9 December 2025, and publishing now uses two-hour session tokens or granular write tokens limited to 90 days (GitHub).
Paid component library and plugin licences, under your account rather than the agency’s.
Environment configuration and secrets, in a store you administer.
Design source files and the component library, so the next team can extend them.
A runbook, covering deployment, rollback, dependency updates and incident contacts.
The bill that arrives after launch
A build quote covers the build. Ask for the recurring number before you sign, and compare vendors over three years.

Security releases come first, for Vue, the back end and every npm dependency. Then hosting, component library licences, framework upgrades such as the next Nuxt major, and monitoring. Change requests usually outgrow everything else by year two. If you stay on Vue 2, add the cost of commercial extended support, which the Vue team points to for anyone who must stay on Vue 2 (Vue).
Security is a recurring cost
An end-of-life framework still collects vulnerabilities. CVE-2024-6783, published in July 2024, allows cross-site scripting through prototype pollution in Vue 2, rated 4.8 (NVD). CVE-2024-9506, published in October 2024, is a regular expression denial of service flaw in Vue’s HTML parser, rated 3.7 (NVD). Neither severity is critical, but neither will be fixed in open-source Vue 2.

The packages around Vue are a target too. Sonatype attributed 96.6 percent of malicious package counts in Q2 2026 to npm (Sonatype). After the Shai-Hulud worm, CISA told organisations to pin dependencies, rotate developer credentials and require phishing-resistant multifactor authentication (CISA).
Google Cloud’s M-Trends 2026 estimated the mean time to exploit at minus seven days, meaning exploitation often arrives before a patch (Google Cloud). The average US data breach cost USD 11.5 million in IBM’s 2026 report (IBM Cost of a Data Breach Report 2026). Write a patch window, in days, into the support agreement.
Accessibility is legal exposure
A Vue front end is where accessibility is won or lost. WebAIM found detected WCAG 2 failures on 95.9 percent of the top million home pages in 2026, an average of 56.1 errors per page (WebAIM Million 2026). More than 5,000 digital accessibility lawsuits were filed in 2025, and 46 percent of federal cases involved repeat defendants (UsableNet).
Name WCAG 2.2 AA in the contract rather than the word “accessible”, put automated and manual checks in the definition of done, and treat overlay widgets sceptically.
Contract clauses that surface in month nine
IP assignment on payment, not on final acceptance.
Transition assistance, a fixed number of hours at an agreed rate, available whether the relationship ends well or badly.
Rate escalation caps for the support period.
Subcontracting, named and approved in writing.
A patch window, in days, for critical and actively exploited vulnerabilities.
A migration definition of done, listing the Vue, Nuxt and state library versions the application must reach.
Non-solicitation in both directions, with a reasonable term.
This is general guidance, not legal advice. Have your own counsel review the contract.
How to leave without losing the codebase
Confirm, in writing, that the repository, hosting, domain and licences are already yours. Trigger the transition hours while the relationship is still cordial. Ask the departing team to record walkthroughs of deployment, the component structure and any migration still in progress, and to deploy once in front of your staff.
On the last day, remove the departing team from every account, revoke their tokens, and rotate every secret they could have seen. CISA’s advice after Shai-Hulud, to rotate all developer credentials, applies just as well to a vendor exit (CISA).
Hire in-house or hire a Vue.js development company
The comparison starts with the wage. The BLS median for web developers was $92,650 in May 2025, and PayScale reports $95,000 for the Vue.js skill (BLS; PayScale). That is before benefits, recruiting, equipment and the time to hire.
Hire in-house when the Vue application is your product and changes every week. Knowing the component structure is the asset.
Hire an agency for a Vue 2 migration, a Nuxt upgrade or a new build with a clear end, with the accounts in your name and transition hours in the contract.
Mix the two when you have a technical lead but not enough engineers. Staff augmentation fills the gap during a migration, and your lead keeps the architecture decisions.
FAQ
Which companies are the top Vue.js developers in the USA?
By Clutch Rank on its US Vue.js directory, read 21 September 2026, the top five are MMC Global, BairesDev, Cleveroad, EIGHT25MEDIA and GoingClear (Clutch). EIGHT25MEDIA and GoingClear put Vue at half their framework split or more.
How much do US Vue.js development companies charge?
The twenty firms here publish bands from $25 to $199 an hour, and thirteen charge $100 or more. Minimum projects run from $1,000 to $75,000, with a median of $25,000 (Clutch).
Is Vue 2 still supported?
No. Vue 2 reached end of life on 31 December 2023 and receives no updates, including security fixes. It remains available on npm and CDNs, and the Vue team points to commercial extended support for teams that must stay on it (Vue).
How do you migrate from Vue 2 to Vue 3?
Move to Vue 2.7, check each dependency for a Vue 3 version, then run the migration build, @vue/compat, which runs in Vue 2 mode and warns about changed features (Vue migration build). Replace Vuex with Pinia, now the documented default (Vuex).
Which Nuxt version should a Vue project use?
Nuxt 4. Nuxt 3 reached end of life on 31 July 2026 and Nuxt 2 on 30 June 2024. Nuxt 5 is estimated for the fourth quarter of 2026, and Nuxt 4 will be supported for six months after it ships (Nuxt).
Is Vue.js still popular?
Yes. 18.4 percent of professional developers used Vue.js in 2025, close to Angular at 19.8 percent (Stack Overflow). Weekly npm downloads of Vue exceeded 12 million in September 2026 (npm).
Why do so many Vue agencies also list Laravel?
Vue has long been paired with Laravel, the PHP framework, for web applications. Eleven of the twenty firms here list Laravel, and PHP is the largest language at firms such as Orases, GoingClear and HDC (Clutch).
Conclusion
The data behind this Top 20 Vue JS Development Companies in USA list says three things. Vue is a minority share at most of these firms, with a median of 13.5 percent of their frameworks. None of their first-page reviews names Vue, so the evidence has to come from code and live applications. And prices sit higher than on most JavaScript lists, with thirteen firms at $100 an hour or more.
Any of the twenty can build in Vue 3. What decides the next three years is whether your Vue 2 application gets migrated, whether Nuxt and Node.js stay on supported lines, and whether the repository, hosting and licences are in your name when the work is done.
